Kathryn Ruth Tibbens, 68, of Frenchville died Saturday, March 9, 2013 at her home.  She was the wife of 49 years to Robert M. Tibbens Jr., whom she married on May 30, 1964 in Clearfield.

Born in Niagara Falls, NY in 1944, she was the daughter of the late Donald Lee and Ruth Irene (Bailor) Bowman.

Mrs. Tibbens was employed as a soda jerk and a waitress for Widmann’s in Clearfield an then later in the deli at Riverside until her retirement.

She enjoyed traveling, camping and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.  She collected porcelain dolls, teddy bears and snow globes.

Surviving are three children, Trace G. Tibbens and Wendy L. Moore and her fiancée, Jeffery Rhone, all of Clearfield and Lance D. Tibbens and his companion, Kimberly Puit of Phillipsburg; four grandchildren, Danielle D. Moore, Anthony J. Moore, Brittany Tibbens and Morgan Tibbens; one great-grandson, Julian Panebanco; two sisters and one brother, Judy Lewis and Linda Peters, both of Mineral Springs and Donald L. Bowman of Clearfield; and one aunt, Flora Arbanas of St. Petersburg, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Robert M. Tibbens III and a brother, James Bowman.

A service to celebrate the life of Kathryn Ruth Tibbens will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, 312 E. Locust St., Clearfield, with the Rev. Sam Maines officiating.  A time to share memories and have an opportunity to view will be held from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the ALS Association, Western Chapter of Pittsburgh, 416 Lincoln Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15209.
