Johnsonburg Residence Destroyed by Fire

JOHNSONBURG – A Johnsonburg residence was destroyed by a fire that ignited at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at 235 Blaine Ave., reported the Ridgway-based state police. The residence belonged to David E. Deprater, 62.

The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal and the Johnsonburg police and fire departments investigated the origin and cause of the fire. The fire destroyed a two-story, wooden-framed residence.

No one was at home at the time of the fire. It was accidental in nature and originated in the chimney. Damage was estimated at $250,000, state police said.

The Crystal, Ridgway, Wilcox and Fox Township fire departments assisted at the scene.
