Phoenix, AZ, United States (4E Sports) – Jared Dudley recorded 22 points and 7 assists and Goran Dragic added 18 points as the Phoenix Suns edged the Houston Rockets 107-105 Saturday at US Airways Center.
The Suns snapped their two game losing skid against a team that is trying to make the playoffs for the first since 2009.
Dudley came off the bench and delivered the goods for the Suns, who played the Rockets for the first time this season.
The Suns engaged in a toe-to-toe battle with the high-scoring Rockets but it was a long floater by rookie guard Kendall Marshall that proved to be the difference.
With 5:57 left, Dragic dived for a loose ball and handed the ball to Marshall who banked in a long one-handed floater to give the Suns 93-86 cushion. From that point, the Suns held off the Rockets and posted the win.
All-Star guard James Harden exploded for 38 points with 8 dimes and 5 boards but his effort was not enough to lift the Rockets.
The Suns took their 22nd win of the season while the Rockets dropped to 34-30, just now three games above the surging Los Angeles Lakers (32-31) and the floundering Utah Jazz (32-31).
