Doarl, FL, United States (4E Sports) – Tiger Woods sold his former lakefront home in the gated Isleworth community in Windermere, Florida to fellow golfer Bubba Watson.
Watson, the 2012 Masters champion, announced the purchase Friday at the WGC-Cadillac Championship in Doral, Florida.
The property was made infamous in a 2009 Thanksgiving night car accident and subsequent scandal that derailed Tiger Woods’ career.
According to public records, Woods originally bought the home for $2,475,000 in July 2000, and it had an assessed value of nearly $2.2 million in 2012.
Watson told ESPN that he and his wife looked at dozens of homes before settling on the former home of Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren.
He is doing a complete renovation of the .65-acre lot. The original layout included eight bedrooms and nine bathrooms and was 6,809 square feet.
Watson, his wife Angie, and their adopted baby boy Caleb, would leave their oceanfront mansion behind on Jupiter Island to move in to their new home next Thursday or Friday.
A four-time PGA Tour winner, Watson shot a 69 on Friday at TPC Blue Monster and is tied for fifth at the Cadillac. He trails 36-hole leader Woods by four shots.
