Duke destroys Virginia Tech behind Seth Curry, Ryan Kelly
Durham, NC, United States (4E Sports) – Seth Curry scored 20 points and Ryan Kelly added 18 points and 9 rebounds as the Duke Blue Devils obliterated the Virginia Tech Hookies 85-57 Tuesday at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Duke cruised to another easy victory against the Hookies but had to come up with a huge second half explosion to pull things off.
The Blue Devils surprisingly a stiff challenge from the Hookies in the first 20 minutes as they headed to the locker room with just a three-point cushion 38-35 at the break.
However, Curry and Kelly came alive offensively in the second half while the Duke’s defense totally smothered the Virginia Tech.
Blue Devils opened the first half on a 12-3 run and they never looked back as they outscored the visiting team 47-22 in the last 20 minutes of play.
Erick Green scored a game-high 25 point while Jarell Eddie added 13 for the Hookies, who suffered their 11th loss of their last 13 games and slide to 13-17.
The win is morale-boosting for Duke (26-4) as they wrap up the regular-season against arch-rival North Carolina Tar Heels on March 9.
