Conway, SC, United States (4E) – Police are investigating the death of a 19-year-old student after a shooting in a campus dormitory in Conway, South Carolina Tuesday that forced a campus lockdown as students returned to class the day after the incident.

Thom Berry, a spokesman for the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, revealed that police are still looking for a suspect and still talking to people.

According to officials, Anthony Darnell Liddell from Bennettsville was gunned down at the University Place residence hall of the Coastal Carolina University and the suspected gunman escaped in a vehicle.

In a statement, the school, with more than 9,000 students, stated that “We will continue to do all that we can with all the resources necessary to make sure that our students are safe and secure. We only pray that an event like this never happens on our campus or any college campus again.”
