Scott Weiland releases statement on ‘termination’ from Stone Temple Pilots
Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – On Wednesday, rock band Stone Temple Pilots announced on their official website that they cut ties with founder and front man Scott Weiland, which the rocker countered with his own statement.
Weiland released a statement to the press saying, “I learned of my supposed “termination” from Stone Temple Pilots this morning by reading about it in the press. Not sure how I can be “terminated” from a band that I founded, fronted and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that’s something for the lawyers to figure out. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to seeing all of my fans on my solo tour which starts this Friday. “
This was his response to the single-sentence announcement on the band’s website saying, “Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland.”
This comes almost at the same time when Weiland denied rumors that the band has purged him from their group telling Rolling Stone, “STP has not broken up,” he said. “I haven’t quit. I haven’t been fired.” He acknowledged, though, that the band’s connection is on the rocks.
The Stone Temple Pilots have gone on a five-year hiatus, reuniting in 2008 and going on a worldwide tour last year.
Further information on the band’s plans is yet to be announced.
