Syracuse, NY, United States (4E Sports) – Otto Porter Jr. recorded 33 points and 8 rebounds to power the Georgetown Hoyas to a 57-46 victory over the Syracuse Orange, 57-46, Saturday at Carrier Dome.
The Hoyas posted their ninth straight victory and 11th win of their last 12 games behind a remarkable performance from their leading scorer.
Porter Jr, averaging a team-high 15.1 points and 7.7 rebounds, sliced through the Orange defense like a hot knife on a butter, sparking a big second half for the Hoyas.
After a low scoring first half, the Hoyas elevated their play a notch higher with tight defense and better shot selection.
Both teams shot below 36 percent from the field, but the Hoyas defense forced the Orange to commit 16 of the 27 turnovers in the game.
C.J. Fair racked up 13 points and 7 rebounds while James Southerland recorded 13 points and 7 rebounds off the bench for Syracuse, which dropped to 22-5 (10-4 in Big East).
Georgetown improved to 21-4 (11-3 in Big East) and is set to take on the upset-minded UConn Huskies on February 27.
