Japan edging towards joining U.S. backed trade pact

Washington, DC, United States (4E) – Japan is edging towards a decision to join the Trans Pacific Partnership, this after Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s recent visit to the United States.

According to a statement , that should Japan participate in the TPP negotiations, all goods would be subject to negotiation.

The TPP is one of the Obama’s administration’s centerpiece economic initiatives, and U.S. officials hope the addition of Japan, Korea and others will allow it to shape modern trade rules for much of the world economy.

U.S. President Barack Obama also pledged with Japan to take a firm line on a defiant North Korea.

Obama promised to work closely with Abe calling the alliance with Japan as the central foundation for the U.S. policy in Asia.

North Korea on Feb 12 carried out its third nuclear test.
