Canadian tourist’s body found on California hotel roof
Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – The body of a 21-year-old Canadian tourist who has been missing since the end of January was discovered Tuesday inside a hotel’s water tank in Los Angeles, California.
In a statement, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that human remains belonging to Elisa Lam have been recovered at the Hotel Cecil’s rooftop water tank and believed that her death is not an accident.
It was reported that the student traveled from Vancouver, Canada to Los Angeles on January 26 and she was last seen at the same hotel on January 31.
CTV News added that Lam stayed at place, and never checked out.
A hotel worker found the body while checking one of the venue’s four water tanks after several clients complained about low water pressure.
Lam was alone when she was last spotted by a hotel clerk and a hostess but police released a surveillance footage taken in the elevator that night, showing Lam acting strangely.
She was pressing more than one floor button in the elevator and appeared to be in a hurry when it’s time to step out of the elevator, looking both ways before exiting.
Police are investigating.
