Greenburgh, NY, United States (4E Sports) – The New York Rangers placed forward Darroll Powe on injured reserve after a collision during a 2-1 win over the Washington Capitals Sunday.

Powe appeared to be unconscious after colliding with Washington Capital’s Matt Hendricks and was down on the ice for several minutes.

He was said to be feeling better a day after.

“I missed him right away on the bench, especially protecting a lead,” Rangers coach John Tortorella said.

While Powe couldn’t boast of impressive number, Tortorella acknowledges his contributions to the team as one of their best penalty killers.

The Rangers may either utilize Brandon Mashinter or Chris Kreider in Tuesday’s game against Montreal in his place.

Mashinter, 24, was recalled from the AHL’s Connecticut Whale, where he made five goals and six assists in 14 games this season. He previously played 13 NHL games for the San Jose Sharks in 2010-11.
