London, England, United Kingdom (4E Sports) – Sergio Aguero delivered two goals as Manchester City eased through to the quarterfinal round of the FA Cup with a lopsided 4-0 triumph over Leeds United Sunday at Etihad Stadium.
Avoiding the upset axe, Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini fielded his best team against Leeds and it paid off early as Yaya Toure and Aguero scored in the first 15 minutes of the match.
Toure exchanged passes with David Silva and Carlos Terez before smacking the ball past Jamie Ashdown for a simple finish in the fifth minute.
Silva and Tevez had several chances to double City’s lead but were inches off target before Aguero finally did it in the 15th minute with a penalty kick.
City’s third goal came seven minutes into the second half when Aguero waltzed through the Leeds defense, exchanging passes with Silva before setting up Tevez for a volley from a yard out.
Aguero completed the rout in the 74th minute when he chipped a shot past Ashdown.
In the quarterfinal, Manchester City will face Barnsley, which defeated MK Dons, 3-1, to advance.
Wigan also advanced to the quarterfinal round for the first time in 26 years with a 4-1 win over Huddersfield Town.
Arouna Kone’s two goals along with strikes from Callum McManaman and James McArthur helped Wigan secured the win and a quarterfinal spot against either Oldham Athletic or Everton.
Meanwhile, defending champion Chelsea booked a spot in the fifth round with a comfortable 4-0 win over Brentford in their rematch.
Brentford held Chelsea to a goalless first half but the Premier League team showed its class with goals from Juan Mata, Oscar, Frank Lampard and John Terry.
The Blues will face Middlesbrough in round five for the right to challenge either Manchester United or Reading in the quarterfinal.
