Atlanta, GA, United States (4E Sports) – Former Georgia inside linebacker Alec Ogletree draft stock is now in jeopardy after he was arrested over the weekend for driving under the influence.
“Last weekend, my client Alec Ogletree was pulled over for speeding and a lane violation in Arizona,” Ogletree’s agent Pat Dye told Pro Football Talk. “After the officers smelled alcohol, they conducted tests and also cited him for DUI.”
Although Ogletree terribly regrets the incident, Dye said the player is thankful that no “accident” happened and no one was hurt.
Dye said Ogletree will not make further comment about the incident due to the pendency of the matter.
The incident will hurt Ogletree’s stock heading into April’s NFL Draft where he is expected to be taken in the first round.
Ogletree entered the NFL draft after a junior year that he started by serving a four-game suspension for reportedly failing a drug test. He led Georgia with 111 tackles last season.
Ogletree also had other legal troubles as he was arrested theft charge for taking a motorcycle helmet that belonged to a Georgia track athlete in his freshman year.
This is the second year in a row that a Georgia underclassman who entered the draft was arrested on a DUI charge.
Tight end Orson Charles waited until the fourth round before he was taken by the Cincinnati Bengals last year.
