U.S. gas plant explosion kills 1 in Texas

Texas, United States (4E) – An explosion at an industrial gas plant in Texas killed one person and injured another on Saturday.

The explosion hit Air Liquide plant’s lab in the Texas city of La Porte at 7:38 a.m. local time. At the time of the blast, between 10-20 employees were inside the plant.

Earlier reports claimed one person was missing and was later found dead. The victims body was recovered from the plant, according to a local TV station ABC13.

A helicopter airlifted the other injured employee to nearby hospital where his conditions is said to be critical.

“We believe everybody has been accounted for at this point,” Air Liquide spokesperson Michael Rosen said.

Officials monitoring air quality assured that the explosion would not lead to any environmental hazard or dangerous to the public.
