Vina del Mar, Chile (4E Sports) – Former world’s no.1 Rafael Nadal continued to post strong win since returning from a knee injury as the 11-time Grand Slam champion dominated Spain’s Daniel Gimeno-Traver to advance to the semifinal round of the VTR Open 2013.
Nadal, who did not play a single game in the ATP tour for almost seven months, has shown again flashes of his old self with another overwhelming win in Vina del Mar.
Nadal will attempt to book a spot in the finals of his first tournament since his comeback against Frenchman Jeremy Chardy. The other semifinal match will feature an all-Argentine battle between Carlos Berlocq and Horacio Zeballos.
Meanwhile, Marin Cilic secured his place in the semifinals of 2013 ATP PBZ Zagreb Indoor with a 6-3 7-6 (5) win over Blaz Kavcic.
Cilic, who’s seeded no.1 in the tourney, will next take on Mikhail Youzhny in the semis. Youzhny defeated Ivan Dodig 6-3 6-2 to set up a final-four showdown against the big-serving Croatian.
