Fort Lauderdale, FL, United States (4E) – One person died and another injured after a crash left the truck they were in dangling off the side of highway overpass in Fort Lauderdale, Florida early Wednesday.
Authorities said the incident occurred around 5 a.m. along the State Road 84 westbound on-ramp from Interstate 95 after a collision between the bakery truck and another vehicle caused the truck with its two occupants to veer into the guardrail and off the road.
Rescuers managed to remove the driver, who was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center, where his condition remained unknown while the truck’s passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials revealed three tow trucks were needed to pull the truck back onto the overpass about two hours after the accident happened.
Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue spokesman Matt Little said a person inside the second car involved in the wreck could also be injured.
