Massachusetts military veteran father fatally beaten; son alleged attacker
Boston, MA, United States (4E) – A 58-year-old military veteran died Monday afternoon after his 20-year-old son allegedly attacked him several times with a hard plastic pipe outside their home in Weymouth, Massachusetts.
According to police reports, Michael Beaudry beat his father, Ronald Beaudry, multiple times with the pipe after an argument that started in part because the elder Beaudry refused to allow his son to shoot BB gun in the woods.
The father was pronounced dead shortly after being transported a hospital.
Witnesses told the MyFoxBoston.com that the younger Beaudry stayed with his father after hitting him, cradling his father’s head and apologizing.
During questioning, Michael Beaudry told police that he and his father had been fighting for years and they argue all the times but his mother, Shirley, informed another officer that it seemed as though father and son had been getting along fine recently.
The Patriot Ledger reported that neighbors got scared two months ago when Michael strolled around the neighborhood carrying a gun and wearing a Nazi uniform, and in 2010, police received a report of a group of teenagers, including Beaudry, with pellet guns.
His attorney, Jack Atwood, said Michael, who is passionate about the military and fantasy combat, had signed up for the Army and had one final test to pass before joining.
Neighbors told MyFoxBoston that the father had a good relationship with his son, while Michael’s friends described him to the Patriot Ledger as kind, quiet and generous.
The younger Beaudry has been charged with one count of murder.
