Waltham, MA, United States (4E Sports) – Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers called the trade rumors about Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce silly and media-driven.

He lamented that while any member of the media could invent stories and have it published, others legitimize it by reporting about it.

The hottest rumor arose from a Sporting News report that the Los Angeles Clippers would send Eric Bledsoe and Caron Butler for Kevin Garnett.

Sources said the deal has not been discussed by the two teams.

Garnett went on to explain that it’s common for trade rumors to pop up around this time of the season, with the Feb. 21 trade deadline less than three weeks away. Meanwhile, Pierce maintained that trade rumors don’t bother him, noting that he’s always just preferred to let things play out.

Rivers said he’d be surprised if there will be major changes in the roster soon as he has not discussed anything with Celtics GM Danny Ainge
