California mailman accused of choking 11-year-old girl placed on leave

Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – A 55-year-old mailman from Commerce, California has been arrested Monday after being accused of choking an 11-year-old girl who laughed at him when he mistakenly entered the women’s restroom at a park.

The U.S. Postal Service and law enforcement officials said Tuesday that Daniel Villasenor assaulted the girl after she taunted him when he unintentionally walked into the women’s rest area at Bristow Park.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, several witnesses verified the story of the girl, afterwards, Villasenor was located and detained.

Richard Mahe, spokesman for US Postal Service, revealed Villasenor, who was on duty when the incident happened, is on unpaid leave while the investigation is ongoing.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is also investigating the case.

NBC4 talked to Villasenor’s neighbor, Leo Ferraris, who described him as a “hell of a guy” who never lashed out.

Villasenor, who has been working as a letter carrier since 1981, was being held on $100,000 bail and booked on one felony count of willful cruelty to a child.
