Emeryville, CA, United States (4E) – A bomb threat prompted evacuations Wednesday morning at a building in Emeryville, California where several laboratories, including those from University of California at Berkeley, are located.

According to Police Sergeant Fred Dauer, responding police and firefighters arrived after the alert was received around 7 a.m. at the EmeryStation East building along Hollis St. in a laboratory space rented by Lawrence Berkeley Lab.

In a website maintained by the building owner, Wareham Development, the Joint BioEnergy Institute, a Berkeley lab partner, and several national laboratories are housed in the building.

Dauer claimed two floors occupied by the Berkeley-affiliated lab were evacuated but other occupants were asked to remain in the building.

UC Berkeley Police Lieutenant Eric Tejada said officials combed the area with the help of bomb-sniffing dogs and explosives technicians.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Alameda County Fire Department were also at the scene.
