Blizzard looms in Northeast on weekend, 2-foot snow seen in Boston

Taunton, MA, United States (4E) – A major winter storm will bring strong winds and heavy snow to the Northeast and New England on Friday and Saturday, the National Weather Service (NWS) forecast on Wednesday.

NSW issued a blizzard watch in Boston, where two feet of snow is expected to fall and make travel impossible. The blizzard watch also covers eastern Massachusetts and northern Rhode Island from Feb. 8 to 9.

A winter storm watch has been posted from Maine to northern New Jersey, including New York City, where 10 inches of snow is predicted to fall.

About 5 to 6 inches of snow are forecast to fall in eastern Wisconsin Thursday. A winter storm warning has been issued along the Wisconsin coastline of Lake Michigan.

Rain is expected south of New York City, Philadelphia and Trenton, New Jersey on Friday, the NSW said. Rain and thunderstorms are expected in Texas and Louisiana.
