St. Paul, MN, United States (4E Sports) – The Minnesota Wild acquired center Mike Rupp from the New York Rangers in exchange for forwards Darroll Powe and Nick Palmieri.

The trade is perceived as an effort of the Wild to improve size as Rupp, 33, does not play a different game than Powe.

Rupp is 6-foot-5 and weighs 243 pounds, while Powe is 5-foot-11 and 212 pounds.

A native of Brunswick, Ohio, Rupp has totaled 94 points and 765 penalty minutes in 565 NHL games.

He totaled 12 PIM in eight games with the Rangers this year after netting five points and 97 PIM in 60 regular-season games with the team last season.
