Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E Sports) – Los Angeles Angels slugger Albert Pujols will not represent the Dominican Republic at the World Baseball Classic due to health issues.

Pujols was not cleared by Major League Baseball nor the players union due to liability issues connected with surgery.

He underwent arthroscopic surgery in October to clean up his right knee.

Pujols wasn’t included on the Dominican Republic’s provisional roster earlier this month, but had hoped to be On the final roster on Feb. 20.

His agent, Dan Lozano, said that Pujols planned to play if his knee was healthy.
