Istanbul, Turkey (4E Sports) – After a seven-month stint in China, Ivory Coast captain Didier Drogba will display his stuff once again in Europe as he was acquired by Turkish football squad Galatasaray.
An 18-time Super Lig champion, Galatasaray has reached a deal with Shanghai Shenhua, Drogba’s squad in China, to acquire the 34-year-old striker.
Drogba then agreed to an 18-month contract with Galatasaray worth $13.5 million, with an additional bonus of $20,000 for each match played.
The striker left Chelsea for China last June, a month after helping the team win their first Champions League title.
However, Drogba failed to settle in China amid reports of unpaid bonuses.
During his time with Shenhua, Drogba could only help the team finish ninth in the 16-team Chinese Super League.
Drogba became Galatasaray’s second significant this month after sealing a deal with Dutchman Wesley Sneijder from Inter Milan.
Drogba is currently preparing for Ivory Coast’s final Group D game against Algeria Wednesday as the West Africans seek to win the tournament for the first time since 1992.
