Boulder, CO, United States (4E) – A grand jury in Colorado voted to indict the parents of JonBenet Ramsey for child abuse resulting in death in 1999 but prosecutors refused to try the case.

According to ABC News, the grand jury claimed there was enough evidence to indict John and Patsy Ramsey in 1999.

The Boulder Daily Camera divulged Sunday that multiple sources informed them about the vote to indict the Ramseys on charges of child abuse resulting in death but Boulder District Attorney Alex Hunter said in October of 1999 that there was not enough evidence to warrant filing charges against the couple.

JonBenet was bludgeoned and strangled in the basement of her family’s home on Christmas Day in 1996, she would have turned 23-years-old this year.

Patsy Ramsey died in 2006 from ovarian cancer while John Ramsey had always maintained his innocence.

Reports stated that the case is still officially open.
