Marlins sign pitcher Chad Qualls to minor league deal

Miami, FL, United States (4E Sports) – The Miami Marlins inked Chad Qualls to a minor league deal with an invitation to Spring Training, a source close to the situation reported Saturday.

Qualls, who logged 597 career relief appearances and 51 saves in his career, became the latest reliever signed by the Marlins after relievers Michael Wuertz and Mitch Talbot were also inked.

Qualls pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates last season, tossing 52 1/3 innings in 60 games and posting a 2-1 slate with a 5.33 ERA

The 34-year-old right hander also pitched for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Tampa Bay Rays, San Diego Padres, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Yankees and Houston Astros.
