Former California elementary teacher charged with sexual assault of 20 kids, one adult

Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – A 57-year-old former elementary school teacher from Los Angeles, California was detained Wednesday for charges of sexual abuse that involves at least 20 children and one adult.

According to a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department, Robert Pimentel, who is being on $12 million bail, has been charged with eight counts of continual sexual abuse and seven counts of lewd acts upon a child.

The statement claimed that the investigation began when several girls informed their parents about being inappropriately touched by a fourth-grade teacher during classes at George De La Torre Jr. Elementary.

It was reported that Pimentel, who has been working for the Los Angeles Unified School District since 1974, quit working when investigation started on March 15, 2012.

The school, which opened in 2006, is located at Wilmington and has around 800 students.
