San Jose, CA, United States (4E Sports) – The San Jose Sharks gave their lineup a boost with the signing of two-time All-Star Scott Gomez to a one-year pact, the team confirmed Wednesday.

Gomez, who’s still due to receive $5.5 million (pro-rated) and two-thirds of the $4.5 million in the final year of his deal after he was bought out by the Montreal Canadiens, will receive $700,000 for one-season tenure with the Sharks.

According to sources, Sharks associate coach Larry Robinson played a crucial role in bringing in Gomez, who played for him when he was coaching for the New Jersey Devils.

Gomez recorded two goals and nine assists in 36 games for the Habs last season. The Canadiens shed Gomez’s contract off the books.
