‘Don’t Trust the Bitch in Apartment 23′ axed by ABC, stars speak out
Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – The sitcom ‘Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23′ has been unofficially cancelled by ABC on Tuesday after only two seasons of airing. Stars James Van Der Beek, Krysten Ritter and Dreama Walker turned to Twitter to thank fans for support.
Main man James Van Der Beek tweeted Tuesday, “Sad to say ABC has pulled #Apt23 and will not be airing the 8 remaining episodes any time soon. Translation: we’ve basically been cancelled.”
Van Der Beek further wrote, “I know most of you watched us on your own time & platform and that the competitive network scheduling game is irrelevant to you…but network TV is a business dictated by Nielson ratings. And while that’s an antiquated business model, it’s the only one they’ve got.”
“Thanks to all who tuned in. We had a blast making it. Can’t imagine a more fun work environment with better people. But onto the next…You’ve got to give ABC props for ever picking us up in the first place. They took a shot at something original & edgy. I respect them for it.”
Co-stars Krysten Ritter and Dreama Walker also took to Twitter to vent their emotions. Ritter wrote, “my beloved fans, sad to confirm that it is true. Don’t Trust the B— #apt23 has been cancelled. thank you so much for your support i love u.”
A thankful Walker tweeted, “Beyond grateful for two seasons to be proud of on #Apt23. Thanks for all of your love and support :)”
The cancellation of came as a surprise to many, because ABC Networks Group Presiddent Paul Lee recently said that ABC had no plans of letting ‘Don’t Trust the B—-’ (as well as another ABC series ‘Happy Endings’) go despite gathering 3 million viewers and 1.2 adults rating this season. Two weeks ago he said, “We love those two shows. They’re incredibly distinctive, and they’re water-cooler shows.”
Meanwhile, a Facebook campaign titled ‘Save Don’t Trust the B in Apt 23′ has been created. It has gathered over 2.1 thousand likes since its creation in December last year. Furthermore, an article on the website BuzzFeed titled ’9 Reasons To Save “Don’t Trust The B—- In Apartment 23″‘ published Tuesday explains why the comedy series deserves to stay on the small screen.
