Sparta, NJ, United States (4E) – A 36-year-old woman from New York has been arrested last weekend wearing only an unzipped jacket and allegedly drunk, after she crashed her car into a retaining wall in Sparta, New Jersey.
According to authorities, police received a call early Friday morning about a car that had rammed into a stone wall and then fled the scene.
Responding officers found a damaged white Volkswagen Jetta with a woman, identified as Catherine Giaquinto, driving while wearing only an unzipped leather jacket.
Officers also believed Giaquinto was driving under the influence as she was badly slurring her words and sometimes completely unintelligible during the questioning.
Reports stated police noticed fresh damage to the front and side of the car which is consistent with the damage to the retaining wall that was hit.
Police spotted Giaquinto’s clothes in the back seat and asked her to get dressed before she was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit breath test, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, careless driving, failure to wear a seat belt and a documentation violation.
The woman was released several hours later and her vehicle was impounded.
