Randy Foye, Derrick Favors sparkle as Jazz rout Cavaliers

Salt Lake City, UT, United States (4E Sports) – Randy Foye fired 20 points, including four triples, and Derrick Favors added season-high 19 as the Utah Jazz poured their might in the third period en route to a 109-98 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers Saturday at Energy Solutions Arena.
Enes Kanter and Al Jefferson added 14 points apiece, DeMarre Carroll had 13 and Jamaal Tinsley had 11 as the Jazz won five of their last six outings and asserted mastery with their sixth straight win over the Cavs.
Jefferson grabbed 11 boards, Favors had nine caroms and Earl Watson issued nine assists for the Jazz, who improved to 22-19.
Rookie Dion Waiters scored 23 points off the bench for the Cavaliers, who dropped to 10-32. Last year’s top rookie Kyrie Irving added 18 points but shot just 7-for-20 from the field and had nine assists.
Tyler Zeller added 13 points and 14 rebounds while CJ Miles and Tristan Thompson added 12 each for the Cavaliers. Thompson also grabbed 11 boards.
The Jazz made 45 of 90 shots for a 50-percent clip while the Cavs hit just 41 percent from the field. Utah also outscored Cleveland in the shaded area, 46-36, and 21-5 in fastbreak points.
Foye buried a three-pointer, Tinsley added two baskets and Jefferson hit a layup in a 9-2 blast in the third period to put the Jazz ahead by 69-56 with seven minutes left.
In the dying minutes of the third, Jefferson made a five-footer and Foye added another triple to give the Jazz an 84-68 lead going into the final period.
Luke Walton opened the fourth period with two straight baskets for the Cavaliers to trim the gap to 12 but a 5-1 swing by the Jazz restored a 16-point lead.
Thompson completed a three-point play off a foul by Favors to bring the Cavaliers within 10, 104-94, with 2:39 but Gordon Hayward buried a jumper and Kanter added a layup to keep their opponent at bay.
