Theo Walcott signs contract extension with Arsenal
London, England, United Kingdom (4E Sports) – Theo Walcott has signed a three-and-a-half year extension with Arsenal worth £100,000-a-week.
Arsenal’s top scorer turned down a £75,000-a-week offer in August.
Walcott, 23, insists that the protracted negotiations were not about money but about his desire to play as a central striker rather than a winger.
He said he had always wanted to stay at Arsenal despite speculation linking him with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool.
Walcott is in the last six months of his contract at the Emirates Stadium.
“Theo’s contract extension now gives us a strong nucleus of ambitious young players who have committed to the club and want to be successful with us as a group,” said Manager Arsene Wenger.
