Obituary Notice: Adolph T. Misko
Adolph T. Misko, 94, of DuBois died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 at the DuBois Nursing Home. Born July 6, 1918, he was the son of Mikolaj and Victoria (Pasierb) Miazga.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, where he served in the Philippines. He was very active representing the U.S. Army in many boxing matches throughout his career.
He was married to Irene (Kopp) Misko for 60 years. She preceded him in death on Oct. 15, 2004.
He retired as a carman from the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad after many years of service. He was a Pennsylvania State Constable for many years and Deputy Fish Warden for the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and was a lifetime member of Friendship Hose Company #2. He also was a member of George D. Montgomery American Legion Post 17 and the Knights of Columbus Council 519.
He is survived by his sons, Thomas M. Misko of DuBois Ronald J. Misko and his wife, Mary Ann of Frisco, TX; his daughter, Kathy A. Stewart and her husband, Richard of DuBois; his sister, Micheline Gavel of Horseheads, NY; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ted Misko and four sisters, Eleanor Bodnar, Mary Rock, Ardel Tubbs and Marcella Wisz.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Friday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
A Military Ritual Service will be held at 9:15 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Fr. David Foradori as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, where full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
