Las Vegas, NV, United States (4E Sports) – The UFC suspended Joey Beltran and Rousimar Palhares nine months each for failing post-fight drug tests after the UFC on FX 6 last Dec. 15 in Queensland, Australia.
Beltran tested positive for the steroid nandrolone. His decision win over Igor Pokrajac will be changed to a no-contest.
The San Diego-based fighter stated via Twitter on Thursday he was still searching for the cause for the positive test.
“I can say without a shad or a doubt I did no inject nandrolone into my body,” Beltran tweeted.
Meanwhile, Palhares (14-5) was flagged for an elevated testosterone level after he suffered a first-round knockout loss to Hector Lombard.
He is currently on a two-fight losing streak.
The suspensions are dated retroactively to Dec. 14, the day in which the card aired in the U.S.
Both fighters must pass a drug test upon completion of the suspension before receiving clearances to compete again.
