Cleveland, OH, United States (4E Sports) – The Cleveland Browns are set to hire former San Diego Chargers head coach Norv Turner as offensive coordinator when he returns from a family vacation.
According to sources, new Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski has a close association with Turner, whom he considers as one of his mentors.
Chudzinski has worked with Turner, a 27-year coaching veteran, in San Diego during the 2009-2010 season.
The Browns are also expected to hire Norv’s son, Scott, who worked closely with Chudzinski in Carolina as the team’s offensive quality control coach.
Considered one of the league’s best offensive minds, Norv has been the head coach of three different teams over his 27-year career, working with the Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins, San Diego Chargers and San Francisco 49ers.
Turner was fired after six seasons in San Diego last week after a 7-9 season. He led the Chargers to three first place finishes in the AFC West and three playoff appearances over his six seasons. He has an overall head-coaching record of 114-122-1.
