Georgia car theft suspect run over after escape attempt

DeKalb County, GA, United States (4E) – A 25-year-old man who was spotted by police driving a stolen vehicle was injured when he tried to flee by jumping out of a moving vehicle in DeKalb County, Georgia early Thursday morning.

Police Lt. Dane Cunningham said officers saw two stolen vehicles, a Dodge Caravan and a Dodge Ram, tailing each other along Candler Road around 3:30 a.m.

When officers reached the vehicles, the Dodge Voyager’s driver left the vehicle and ran in front of it while it was still moving, causing the vehicle to hit the suspect as it veered over an embankment.

The injured suspect was brought to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

The Dodge Ram was recovered shortly at Glenwood Road and CBS Atlanta reported an unidentified female suspect was arrested.

The pair is facing auto theft charges.
