P.J. Carlesimo sees Phil Jackson pursuing his Nets coaching job
Brooklyn, NY, United States (4E Sports) – Phil Jackson announced that he has no intention of coaching again. But Brooklyn Nets interim coach P.J. Carlesimo doesn’t believe him.
“It’s not,” Carlesimo responded when asked if Jackson’s remark at SheridanHoops.com was re-assuring.
“I don’t believe Phil, anyhow. I’ve known Phil too long,” he added.
Jackson, an 11-time NBA coaching champion, has been mentioned as the top target to coach the Brooklyn Nets.
Interim coach P.J. Carlesimo is off to a 6-1 start in ex-coach Avery Johnson’s place and is expected to finish out the season.
But the Nets are expected to pursue Jackson, who led the Bulls and Lakers to numerous championships, in the offseason.
Coaching a team in New York City with a playoff-caliber roster might be intriguing to Jackson, who was once a stellar defender with the Knicks.
Jackson’s fiancee, Los Angeles Lakers executive Jeanie Buss, is supportive of him coaching elsewhere.
