Conyers, GA, United States (4E) – Four young children, including an infant, died Tuesday night after flames engulfed a duplex in Conyers, Georgia.

According to reports, the mother managed to save one son but four other children, aged 8 months, three, five and seven, died.

Police Major Mike Waters said the children’s mother, who rushed upstairs, reached her six-year-old son and threw him out of a window.

The boy was taken to a nearby hospital with a broken collar bone.

The mother, who sustained severe burns, survived by jumping out of the window and a grandmother got out without being injured.

Police officers responded immediately, equipped with handheld fire extinguishers, after the fire was reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
