San Diego, CA, United States (4E Sports) – The San Diego Chargers have named Indianapolis Colts vice president of football operations Tom Telesco as their new general manager.
According to a high-ranking team source, Telesco impressed the Chargers during a second interview Tuesday.
“Telesco is a perfect fit for us — honest, humble, engaging, and his vision for the club matched the search committee’s,” another high-ranking San Diego source added.
The two sides then agreed to contract terms Wednesday. Telesco will be introduced in a news conference later Wednesday.
The source added that Telesco will join the same committee that selected him in searching for a new head coach.
It was reported that the Chargers have contacted UCLA head coach Jim Mora for their vacant head-coaching position.
However, sources close to Mora said the coach will likely to remain in UCLA with improvement to the team’s facilities and increased pay for his assistants on the way.
The Chargers, who have yet to interview head coaching candidates, are also eyeing Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians.
