Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E Sports) – The Los Angeles Lakers suddenly find themselves lacking in ceiling with center Dwight Howard and forward Pau Gasol both sidelined indefinitely due to injuries.
The team announced that Howard suffered a torn labrum in his right shoulder in Sunday’s 112-105 loss to the Denver Nuggets and will be re-examined in a week.
For his part, Gasol took a blow to the face in the fourth quarter Sunday and suffered a concussion. In his condition, Gasol did not travel with the team.
Despite hurting his shoulder, Howard tied a career high with 26 rebounds on top of 14 points and four blocks against the Nuggets.
Howard originally hurt the shoulder in the second half of the Lakers’ 107-102 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers Friday after getting tangled up with Caron Butler.
However, he worsened the injury while going against the Nuggets’ big men.
The Lakers lost their third straight game despite getting adouble-digit output from six players, with Kobe Bryant leading the way with 29 points. He shot just 11-for-29 from the field, however.
