Fog caused fatal collision along California highway

Sacramento, CA, United States (4E) – A man died and a woman was wounded after a head-on crash along a foggy Jackson Highway near Sacramento, California Monday morning, causing officials to shut down the road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a call reported a deadly accident that happened between Eagles Nest and Excelsior roads around 3:45 a.m.

The crash caused both vehicles to veer off the road. One man died, while a woman in the other vehicle was brought to the hospital because of her injuries.

A child in the car with the woman was not seriously hurt.

Officials closed the roads for about three hours, before it was reopened on 6:45 a.m.

Investigators are determining the cause of the accident and police are looking for another driver who witnessed the crash.
