Obituary Notice: Frank H. Lingenfelter

Frank H. Lingenfelter, 85, of Morrisdale died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at his residence. Born Jan. 26, 1927 in Casanova, he was the son of the late Frank E. and Marie M. (Barkan) Lingenfelter.

Mr. Lingenfelter earned his Bachelor’s degree from the Lock haven State Teachers’ College in 1949. He earned his Master’s degree in education from the Pennsylvania State University in 1955.

He was an educator for 43 years. He taught at Winburne Elementary, Cooper High School and the West Branch Junior-Senior High School.

Mr. Lingenfelter was a lifetime member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Forest. He was a World War II veteran.

He was affiliated with the Lutheran Layman’s League, the American Legion, the Lock Haven Alumni Association, the Penn State Alumni Association, the Public School Employees’ Retirement System and the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.

He was married to Nancy L. (Brandt) Lingenfelter on June 25, 1967 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheridan, OR. She survives in Morrisdale.

Mr. Lingenfelter is survived by his children, Arnell Caris and her husband, Andy of Mount Airy, MD; Dwight Lingenfelter and his wife, Ketja of State College; Roslyn Zehr and her husband, Delton of Elmira, Ontario; grandchildren, Payton and Madelyn Caris and Felicity and Kyle Zehr; a brother, George Lingenfelter of Keyser WV; and a sister, Caroline Lingenfelter of Curwensville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, David Lingenfelter, Alvin Lingenfelter and Kenneth Lingenfelter.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Forest, with the Rev. James Kusko officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Military honors will be accorded at the church by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Monday at the church.
