Lake Tahoe, CA, United States (4E) – The body of the 19-year-old teen from Petaluma, California who went missing in South Lake Tahoe during New Year’s Eve was found lying in snow Friday morning.

According to Douglas County Sheriff’s Office spokesman P. Howell, Alyssa Byrne’s body was discovered in a snow bank near Pioneer Trail in El Dorado County by a utility worker around 8:30 a.m.

Byrne attended the SnowGlobe music festival at Lake Tahoe Community College where she was last seen around 11:53 p.m. on December 31.

The teen’s body was recovered on a pathway leading from the college campus toward the Horizon hotel-casino where she was staying, divulged Howell.

It was reported that long lines for the shuttle caused many event participants to walk rather than take the bus.

Howell stated initial investigation determined Alyssa decided to walk back from the event.

Investigation on the case is ongoing.
