New York, NY, United States (4E Sports) – The NFL will check if the Jets are violating the league’s media policy by holding a season-ending news conference on Jan. 8.
This was relayed by NFL spokesman Greg Aiello to the New York Daily News.
The season ended Dec. 30 and the league requires a news conference to be held within a week.
Next week’s Jets presser is set to include coach Rex Ryan and owner Woody Johnson.
Rex Ryan’s scheduled press conference was abruptly cancelled Monday as he flew out of town to take a mini-vacation at the Bahamas.
Johnson also went on vacation without addressing the media.
After the NFL launched an investigation, the team announced Ryan will return to take questions Tuesday, which is outside the required time frame.
Ryan was the only employed NFL head coach to dodge the media since the season ended.
He will remain as head coach and be paired with a new general manager.
