Body found in D.C. apartment identified

Washington, DC, United States (4E) – The body recovered inside a ventilation unit of an apartment in Washington, D.C. Wednesday has been confirmed as that of a 23-year-old man from Maryland who disappeared from the area during a New Year’s party.

According to officials, Michael Steven Poe’s body was found along Biltmore Street after someone called police when the saw the body in the unit located at The Haddington apartment. He was found unresponsive.

Police said Poe was reported missing during the celebration in Northwest Washington.

He was last seen with friends at Shenanigans Bar around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday before they separated. Friends heard from him via cell phone two hours after he left them, but Poe never returned from D.C.

Police are still investigating the case.
