Houston, TX, United States (4E Sports) – The Houston Astros are set to make their American League debut against the 2010 and 2011 AL champ Texas Rangers Sunday March 31.

The Astros will finally have their baptism of fire in the AL against a team that lost some of its key members from their AL championship team this offseason, including former MVP Josh Hamilton.

It marks the first time the Astros and Rangers face each other on opening day. The Astros will host the Rangers at Minute Maid Park in Houston at 8 pm ET to open their three-game series as announced by the MLB Thursday.

With the Astros big jump to AL, both leagues now have 15 teams each on their side while AL West will finally have five teams in its division.

ESPN “Sunday Night Baseball” will cover the Astros-Rangers opener along with four more games, which include the opening day rivalry showdown between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox.
