Robin Roberts looks forward to a ‘serene 2013′
Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – GMA anchor Robin Roberts is out of the hospital to celebrate the new year with her family, and she hopes for a ‘serene 2013.’
It has been a whirlwind year for Roberts, who found out in 2012 that she had a rare bone marrow disease shortly after battling breast cancer. She underwent a bone marrow transplant in September and has stayed in the hospital recuperating.
But this year, as she celebrates the New Year with her family, as well as with her post-transplant celebration, Roberts tweeted, “Happy New Year. My sister, @DMcEw, always comes up w/ family motto. This year’s: “All will be serene in 2013″ Amen!”
Roberts kept her supporters posted on her condition’s progress through social media. On Saturday, she celebrated a ‘major milestone’ in her life. She said on Twitter, “Every morning I mark the day post my bone marrow transplant. Today I reached a major milestone…Day 100! Blessings..XO”
Her doctor, Dr. Gail Roboz, said on Good Morning America, “We have to watch patients super closely for 100 days. We don’t trust anything for the first 100 days. After that, we’re happy.”
She also shared her joy of being reunited with her animal companion. She posted a photo of the two of them on Twittter and said, “Look who made it back for my 100 day celebration…KJ!! We just keep staring at each..can’t believe she’s finally home.”
According to TMZ, Roberts will be back on the show in the middle of 2013.
