Tony Parker near double-double lifts Spurs over struggling Mavs
Dallas, TX, United States (4E Sports) – Tony Parker scored 21 points and dished out nine dimes and Manu Ginobili added 20 markers as the San Antonio Spurs blew by the Dallas Mavericks 111-86 Sunday at American Airlines Arena.
The Spurs cruised to their fifth straight victory and improved 24-8 behind balanced scoring and stingy defense.
Parker led the charge for the Spurs, who had five players in double figures and outscored the Mavs in three of the four quarters. The Spurs took a 57-45 halftime advantage and preserved double-digit lead down the stretch despite facing pressure from the Mavs.
Darren Collison once again starred for the Mavs with 18 points and 8 dimes but Dirk Nowitzki remains unproductive since returning from surgery as the German gunslinger finished with 8 points on 3-for-9 shooting over 23 minutes of action.
The Spurs shot 50 percent from the field and grabbed 44 boards along with 21 assists. The Mavs went 40 percent on the floor and hauled 46 boards but just shot 1-for-16 from the three-point line.
The Mavs dropped their sixth straight game and nine of their last 10, slipping to 12-19 on the season.
