Man shot dead in Illinois, two suspects arrested

Chicago, IL, United States (4E) – A 28-year-old man died after being gunned down at the South Side in Chicago, Illinois Sunday night and two suspects who crashed after attempting to flee on the expressway have been taken into custody.

Police News Affairs Officer Daniel O’Brien said the man was shot at 5:10 p.m. near 51st Street and Indiana Avenue in the area of Washington Park.

The Chicago Sun-Times was informed by Chrystal Kyles that her only brother, Christopher Thomas, was killed during the shooting.

Thomas was pronounced dead before 8 p.m. Sunday, stated the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Police, who arrived at the scene of the crime and saw two suspects fleeing in a car, managed to follow the vehicle onto the Dan Ryan Expressway, where the car rammed into another vehicle along the 43rd Street exit.

Officers arrested the pair and charges are yet to be filed.
