Oakland, CA, United States (4E) – A 15-year-old girl died and a teenage boy was injured after a shooting occurred at a housing complex in Oakland, California Sunday afternoon, and police are looking for the suspect.

Police spokeswoman Johnna Watson said officers responded to a call of shots being fired around 3:40 p.m. to an East Oakland housing complex along Lion Way.

Watson added responding officers found the unidentified dead girl and a 14-year-old boy with a non-life threatening gunshot wound, who was rushed to a hospital.

Initial investigation stated the teenagers were walking east on Lion Way near the complex with several people when a lone male approached and started shooting at them before escaping on foot.

Police described the suspect as a black teenager, around 13 to 16 years old, about 5-foot-5 and possibly wearing a red T-shirt.

Watson revealed investigators have been talking to witnesses to determine the motive in the shooting.
